Jacob's Story:

On November 1, 2024, we lost our 22-year-old son to suicide. Jacob had just graduated McMaster University with his Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Behaviour. In our hearts, he was as close to perfect as one could imagine.ย

Jacob was just finishing up a celebratory three week dream trip to Japan with a good friend. The texts and pictures that he sent home on a daily basis were lighthearted, excited and happy. His life was off to a great start which he so deserved.ย

The Signs We Never Saw

Jacob had always been a well adjusted, happy kid who was very close to his immediate and extended family, blessed with great friends, and always cheerful and thoughtful; a great guy to be around, with never a single sign to anyone that he was struggling. But, on that date, he chose a moment when he was alone, and he took his life. There was no note, no good-bye, and no warning. After reviewing his cell phone, we uncovered signs that he was struggling silently with depression; however, it was too late. We weren't able to save him. This non-profit organization is our effort to prevent, in Jacob's name, other Jacobs, from suffering in silence, from fearing to reach out to the system which should be able to help, from choosing a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
